"April Showers Bring May
Flowers!" Along with getting outdoors in
the garden, cooking out and generally feeling happy
to have survived another winter, the beginning of
May also means something else for most people;
they have
just endured the dreaded task of filing their
TAXES.
You've heard it said, "The only thing you can
count on in life is
death and taxes", we would like to add that at
some
point, you can also count on
experiencing
STRESS.
Stress has been defined
as "the wear and tear our bodies experience
as we
adjust to our continually changing environment"; it
causes physical and emotional changes in us and can
create positive or negative feelings and effects.
Stress?? Positive??
Actually, it can
be - stress can help compel us to action; it can
result in a new awareness and an exciting new
perspective on a goal or challenge. However, most of
us are more familiar with that 'other stress'
which can
result in feelings of distrust, rejection, anger, and
depression, even lead to health problems such as
headaches, upset stomach, rashes, insomnia, ulcers,
high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. Wow,
we're getting anxious just typing this list!
Makes you want to run for the
sauna doesn't it? Well actually, one of the main
benefits of using our sauna regularly is that it's
relaxing. Weight loss, pain relief and
detoxification are all wonderful and important, but the
most obvious result we achieve from the sauna is
that it
takes us away from the stress of daily life. After a
satisfying sauna session, how can
we describe it? Life just seems... BETTER.
In this month's issue you can take
a stress quiz, learn how stress affects your whole
health, be intrigued by the "cuddle party" and
discover which foods will help you stay stress-free
(and no, unfortunately it's not wine and
chocolate).
So take control of the stress in
your life - take a walk, plant your garden and while
you're putting those flowers in the ground, take the
time to stop and smell them.
Until next
month,
Warmest Regards!
