Happy Canada Day!
(Independence Day for our American friends).
Last month we had some fun
talking about skin - this month we're going to see if
we can get under your skin! Now that summer is
officially here and our days will include
plastic-wrapped picnics, sun screens, beauty
products and insect repellents, we
wanted to arm you with good information about how
to keep your home and yourself as toxin-free as
possible.
According to Dr. Sherry Rogers in
her book "Detoxify or Die", "It no longer matters what
you call your disease. The label your doctor gives you
is meaningless. What matters is what caused it." Dr.
Rogers contends that all disease is caused by
toxic
buildup in the body. While it may be tempting to
discount this statement, think about the number of
people
you know who have (or have had) diseases such as
cancer, arthritis,
fibromyalgia or diabetes. The numbers
are indeed staggering and the average age of
people being diagnosed with these illnesses is getting
younger and younger. (On a personal note, one of
our
very closest friends who turned 50 last week
lost both of her breasts June 9th to cancer and a
relative in
his late 20's was diagnosed with an operable
malignant tumour in May.) To see young
people
getting cancer is frightening and wrong.
There is hope. While we can't
change the outdoor air quality, or keep mercury out
of our fish, we can limit our exposure through
education and action.
In this issue, we'll give you the
latest news on the dangers of plastics and teflon, tell
you which
sunscreens are the healthiest and how going raw can
enhance your energy and quality of life. You can take
a quiz to learn
how toxic your environment is, and read about how
scientists are now measuring pollution in humans.
It's your health... arm
yourself with good information, make good decisions
and take action! No one is more interested in keeping
you healthy than you!
Until next
month,
Warmest Regards!

| Plastics Linked To Breast Cancer |
 |
|
According to
Breastcancer.org: "Every two minutes, a
woman will be diagnosed with breast cancer in
America. Breast cancer incidence in women has
increased from one in 20 in 1960 to one in eight
today. And 40,000 women are expected to die from
this disease." A study published in May, 2005 links
this disease to a common, everyday environmental
substance -
plastics. Plastics... they're everywhere... in
our kitchens, clothes, cars, offices and
schools and they're making us sick.

| Most Sun Screens Are Not Safe ! |
 |
|
As ubuquitous as your bathing suit
and favourite novel when heading to the beach...
we've all been brainwashed to 'use suncreen'. While
we all know that getting a sunburn is indeed
dangerous and not good for your skin, we've never
stopped to consider just what is in that cream we're
slathering all over our bodies. New studies indicate
that we could be doing more harm than good with
most commercial sunscreens.

Phthalates are a family of
industrial
chemicals that are used as a plastic softeners or
solvents in many different consumer products
including cosmetics and perfumes. They can be
absorbed through the skin, inhaled as fumes or
ingested. Phthalates can damage the liver, the
kidneys and the lungs. Crazy as it sounds, the
government
does not require cosmetics manufacturers to safety
test
these hazardous substances in their products. This
watchdog site will tell you if some of your favourite
products are healthy or harmful.

| Teflon Linked to Birth Defects & Disease |
 |
|
It seemed like the miracle every
cook dreamed of - a pan the was virtually scrub-free.
Clean up time would be faster, food wouldn't stick
and life would be just a little easier. Unfortunately, it
turns out that the chemical perfluorooctanoic acid
(PFOA), used to make non-stick pans
causes birth defects, illness and is making our lives
anything but easy.

| Natural Alternatives to Keep Mosquitoes Away |
 |
|
It's a part of summer, that little
whining sound near your ear while your sleep or take
that romantic walk at dusk. They can ruin vacations,
spread disease and generally make us miserable -
Mosquitoes! We all want to keep them away,
but most repellents are filled with incredibly harmful
toxins. Here's a list of natural alternatives to help
keep your summer itch-free.

| Ultimate Nutrition - Going Raw |
 |
|
Salad is good for you, we all know
that but many people are choosing to go "all raw" and
swear it is the key to longevity and vitality. No, we
don't mean the term "raw" is just a very rare steak,
it's more like being "vegan-zilla". A Raw Food
Diet
is based on the idea that it is the enzymes in food
that gives it (and us) our life force. Kim
attended a raw food lunch and was amazed at the
creativity and array of delicious foods available.
Here's more on what going 'raw' is all about.

| Greatest Medical Discovery of the Decade |
 |
We are all a toxic cesspool of the
lifetime
accumulation of chemicals from our air, food, and
water. U.S. EPA studies of chemicals stored in the fat
of humans show that 100% of people had dioxins,
PCBs, dichlorobenzene, and xylene while another
analysis of the exhaled breath of humans showed
carcinogenic benzene in 89% and perchloroethylene
in 93%. And these chemicals are just the tip of the
iceberg. For now we have the proof that it is the
steady silent accumulation over a lifetime that
produces most diseases, including cancer. But get
ready for the greatest medical discovery of the
decade.
If we get these ubiquitously
unavoidable toxic
chemicals out of the body, we can reverse and even
cure the most hopeless diseases. For any Solo
purchased in the month of July, we'll send you this
ground-breaking book - FREE.

Scientists Begin Measuring Pollution in Humans |

This article came out on Christmas
Day, 2003 and since then, there have been numerous
news stories about rocket fuel found in cow's milk,
flame retardant found in human breast milk and
styrofoam found in 100% of all cancer biopses.
